Eddie Mack joined ATG Group three years ago to help increase awareness of our services and attract new clients. Here, we find out a little bit more about what makes him tick!
What is your job with ATG Group, Eddie?
I am the Business Development Manager.
What does your job entail?
My work mainly involves commercial and domestic oil spills. I help to drive business growth in ATG Group by developing a network of contacts, attracting new clients and researching new opportunities. Our marketing team provides valuable support. I focus a lot on the insurance sector all across the UK and Ireland. I’m frequently liaising with insurers, loss adjusters, loss assessors and other groups. I work closely with our Project Directors and Managers to nurture and develop these customer relationships, and I often get involved in individual cases.
What did you do before joining ATG Group?
I started my career as a Household Underwriter for Sun Alliance in 1988. Then I progressed to a broker’s environment where I led a small team dealing mainly with motor and property claims. I later took up a position as a Property Loss Adjuster with Cunningham Lindsey, and for almost 15 years specialised in escape of oil claims, although not exclusively. More recently, I’ve worked with an international publisher and also for a financial services company in roles predominantly related to sales, prior to joining ATG Group in 2018.
What do you love about your job?
As a Business Development Manager for ATG Group, I get to bring together my experience and skills acquired as a loss adjuster with my love of sales. Every day I meet and talk to people about all the terrific things the company does, whilst the other guys do all the hard work! We have an enthusiastic, caring and committed team at ATG Group who make coming to work a pleasure. It is also great to know that with each new oil spill instruction received, we can make a difference in the community because 10% of gross profits go to our Ashes to Gold charity.
What are your plans for the future within ATG Group?
Last year we were thrilled to receive the Queens Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. This recognition demonstrates to insurers and other companies with whom we seek to do business, that ATG Group is an exemplar in our field. The plan is to build on this and to continue to form relationships that are mutually beneficial.
What do you do in your spare time?
My years of adventure holidaying and adrenaline sports are in the past. I enjoy nothing more than spending time with my family. I have an 11-year-old daughter, who helps to keep me young, and I enjoy cycling, racquet sports and the occasional game of snooker. When I get time to read a book, it’s usually a tale by Jeffrey Archer.
What’s your favourite meal?
I love a chargrilled steak, some nice chips and a Coca-Cola (not the diet stuff!).
